As a Shareholder in the litigation group, Yoona concentrates her practice on complex litigation, securities law, class actions, and environmental litigation. Having handled several high-profile cases, Yoona brings a strong sense of conviction to all of her matters, balanced by common-sense judgment and a warm, engaging personality. Yoona is particularly skilled in handling newsworthy and media-sensitive matters, having worked in agency public relations prior to law school. Settlement Reached in Airbnb Discrimination Case

Plaintiffs and Airbnb have reached a settlement in a lawsuit, filed in March 2017, alleging that Airbnb’s policies allowed its hosts to discriminate against African Americans and deny them access to accommodations by using guests’ photographs and full names to review reservation requests in violation of Oregon’s Public Accommodation laws.

Federal Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss in Airbnb Class Action Discrimination Case

On October 30, 2018, Judge Michael Simon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon denied Airbnb’s motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit, which alleges that Airbnb acted with discriminatory intent by creating and maintaining policies that allow Airbnb hosts to make booking decisions using information such as photographs of prospective guests.
