Stoll Berne is proud to announce that at the Inaugural US Benchmark Annual Awards in New York on January 31st, 2013, it was named Oregon Firm of the Year.

Firms in all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, were recognized for the gravitas of their case matters during 2012, including potential precedent set or verdicts with notably high dollar amounts at stake.

Benchmark Litigation notes the following on their website about Stoll Berne:

The strong reputation of Portland-based litigation and securities boutique Stoll Stoll Berne Lokting & Shlachter continues to attract major national and Northwest-based litigation to its team. One peer gushes, “They do a lot of plaintiff securities stuff. They’re highly ethical and highly competent. You like having them as your opponent, because whatever you’re going to fight about, it’s going to be a fair fight.” While its securities and regulatory practices remain respected, it has developed a blossoming intellectual property practice to handle the increasing IP litigation in the Pacific Northwest. It has also strengthened its real estate practice with the recent addition of Andrew Davis to its bench from Stoel Rives. In 20 years, Stoll Berne has not lost a partner to competition, indicating the firm’s cohesion that benefits both its work and its clients. As one client raves, “Stoll Berne is among the top firms in the state, if not the country.”

Managing shareholder Keith Ketterling‘s skill shows through in his recent securities class-action litigation against BP for refusing to pay $700 million in declared dividends to investors.  Scott Shorr practices in Stoll Berne’s appellate practice, recently representing the State of Oregon against Bank of New York for securities violations before the Oregon Supreme Court. Tim DeJong is recognized for his commercial, intellectual property, and securities litigation skills, with one peer enthusing, “Tim is just great.” Robert Shlachter concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, intellectual property and unfair competition issues, recently partnering with Tim DeJong in defending Traffic Information LLC against Google regarding patents displaying traffic information in Google Maps. Name partner Gary Berne litigates commercial cases concerning investment fraud, ERISA, and insurance disputes, and notably defended Native Tribes along the Columbia River in class actions brought by farm workers and the forestry industry.
