Maddie is an associate in the firm’s litigation group where she focuses on complex litigation matters including environmental torts, securities, and class action matters.

She was a member of the trial team pursuing claims on behalf of the State of Oregon against Monsanto Company for PCB contamination, which rendered a nearly-$700 million settlement for the State, the largest environmental settlement in Oregon history. Maddie continues to litigate claims for PCB contamination against Monsanto Company on behalf of the City of Seattle and she is currently a member of the team representing the State of Oregon against various entities, including DuPont and 3M, for PFAS contamination.

Prior to joining Stoll Berne, Maddie served as a law clerk for the Honorable Scott Shorr (Oregon Court of Appeals).

Stoll Berne and Keller Rohrback defeat Monsanto’s Motion for Summary Judgment in PCB Contamination Lawsuit

On February 2, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington denied Monsanto’s Motion for Summary Judgment in ongoing PCB litigation. Stoll Berne and co-counsel at Keller Rohrback represent the City of Seattle in this suit and seek to hold Monsanto accountable for the harms that Monsanto’s PCBs have caused to the City’s stormwater and drainage system and the Lower Duwamish Waterway.

State of Oregon Files PFAS Contamination Lawsuit

The State of Oregon, by and through Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum, filed a lawsuit on May 31, 2023, for injuries to the State of Oregon’s lands, waters, wildlife, and other natural resources; property; residents; and consumers against nearly two dozen defendants for the use of toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in firefighting foam.
