$4.7 Billion Awarded to NFL Fans in “Sunday Ticket” Lawsuit

In an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL, a jury awarded $4.7 billion to NFL fans and $96 million to businesses who purchased the NFL’s “Sunday Ticket” packages. Fans alleged that the NFL conspired with teams and DirectTV to inflate prices for out-of-market-games. The NFL claims it had zero control over pricing. They also argue that its broadcasting practices fall under an antirust exception.

This comes after a three-week long trial, the NFL plans to appeal the decision.
